awards are not bookable using KrisFlyer Miles and neither are
premium economy seats
on Star Alliance
partner airlines.
Airline partners are where you will find the most value for your points, particularly
on award flights in international
premium cabins.
United explains: «We're increasing miles required in these markets for the first time in several years to account for the increased cost of providing transportation, particularly in the
premium cabin and particularly
on the MileagePlus
partner carriers... We faced a decision other
airlines have faced — to either increase the number of miles required for
partner awards or to eliminate them altogether.»
However, if you can snag Fist Class
awards on some of American's
premium airline partners (Etihad, Cathay Pacific, Qatar etc...) then you should be able to get value out of this offer.
Unfortunately, it appears that Alaska
partner airlines don't share much
premium award space
on these routes.
However, Singapore
Airlines recently announced that they'd be opening up more
award space
on their «
premium» routes to Star Alliance
partners, like
on the all - business class Newark and Los Angeles to Singapore routes.
ANA and Aeroplan are transfer
partners of American Express Membership Rewards (as is Singapore
Airlines, useful for
premium cabin
awards on Singapore).
