aerosol mass composed
of organosulfate and organonitrate chemicals can then form via nitrogen oxide - initiated oxidation
of VOCs from natural vegetation (e.g., isoprene) in the
presence of highly acidic ultrafine
particles.
After each
of these eruptions we have noted the
presence of (generally) submicrometer - sized ash
particles and
aerosol droplets on collectors, although we can not always be certain
of the identity
of the volcano responsible for the material.
