Improving a manuscript in any

More generally, the
chapters of «America Is Hard to See» pay homage to a number
of those seminal exhibitions through which the Whitney has historically recognised and advocated for emerging American art: «Anti-Illusion: Procedure / Materials» (1969), for instance, with its defiant
presentation of the post-minimalism
of Richard Tuttle and others, or «
New Image Painting» (1979), which celebrated a revival
of figurative painting in an artistic climate dominated by conceptual work.
This solo
presentation, curated by
Chapter — to develop a suite
of new work for a large scale, ambitious and original exhibition — will be the artist's first major commission at an international biennale.
During the first week
of October, midway through the
presentation, there will be a rotation
of some
of the sections (or «
chapters») enabling more
of the collection to be showcased and
new works and juxtapositions to be explored.
Most
of this post was initially delivered as part
of a panel
presentation to the
New York
Chapter of AILA («the American Immigration Lawyers» Association)-- I had addressed this specifically in my original
presentation, though it somehow didn't make it to the blog post.
