The administration has argued that
preserving nuclear facilities for about a decade will allow New York to build out wind farms and solar arrays while maintaining the largest source of carbon - free energy in New York.
Gov. Andrew Cuomo, who spearheaded creation of the subsidies to
preserve nuclear facilities that produce power without significant carbon emissions, cheered the ruling.
The administration's plan to
preserve the nuclear facilities is being included in the Clean Energy Standard plan, which mandates that New York receive about half its power from renewables.
