To recognize this «given - ness» does not mean to accept the political or economic status quo, as if it reflected
presumed orders of nature; it is rather to acknowledge that limits in knowing, as elsewhere, accompany our (common) existence as human beings.
The one, presumably for good reasons, respects a rhythm inherent in
nature; the other, let us
presume for equally good reasons, uses technology to interfere with the
order of nature.
