Putting a
dog on public display to be examined by a judge might,
in itself, be a
pretty good exclusionary test for cataracts, primary lens luxation, orthopedic problems including hip and elbow dysplasia, spine, and neck abnormalities, and
in fact, the level of exertion required for some
dogs to get around the
show ring clearly expose heart or airway problems!
During my few hours of fun
in the lobby (with
pretty ample seating), I met many
show dogs, watched a woman sing some sort of operatic song with her bedazzled
dog by her side, and my pooch, Dexter, was wished good luck
in the
show ring.
Companion pet owners can also have long fancy ears... snoods will help any
dog regardless of
showing in the
ring or just looking
pretty at home on their couch... if you have long fancy ears a snood can protect them.
