Award availability became really outstanding when they put an Airbus A380 on the route, and the aircraft has
a pretty good business class product as well.
However, if you route your flights through Australia and take American Airlines from LAX - > SYD you can find
some pretty good business class SAAver availability at times, although you'll need to searching for about 9 to 10 months out.

That's a
pretty good price to pay for a
Business Class fare between Europe and Asia and what made it
better for me was that it was for travel on Qatar's A330 and A380 aircraft — I hadn't had a chance to review the
Business Class cabin on either of those aircraft up until this trip (I reviewed the A380 First
Class product last year).
The seats are different from the Club World offering and I suspect the crew may be a bit more on top of their game for an all
business class flight so the service should be
pretty good.
If you compare this BA First
Class seat to the modern
Business Class seats you find on American's 777 - 300ER, Etihad's A380's and Finnair's A350s then the BA seat compares
pretty well and is
better than all three....
If the
Business Class cabin I'm thinking of booking has one seat on either side of the aircraft I know that I'm almost certainly looking at a newer product that should be
pretty good... like this one offered by Air France on its 777's:

Business Class QSuite will be arranged in a 1 -2-1 layout the centre seats will appeal most to couples and colleagues traveling together... and it looks like the layout should work

United bonus miles are
pretty valuable, since Star Alliance offers some of the

While economy award space on American Airlines is still
pretty good for many different routes, there has been a lot of grief lately over
business class availability at the SAAver level.
Seriously, I'm
pretty amazed that American Airlines is making its
best First and
Business Class widely available for summer trips to London for 100,000 (
Business) to 125,000 (First) miles roundtrip plus taxes.
These are Thomson Vantage XL seats, one of my favorite
business class seats: They offer a long and
pretty wide seat, are very comfortable and offer
good privacy.
