Madewell's Spring 2012 look
book has finally arrived, courtesy of Lucky
Magazine,
and it's just as
pretty, wearable
and drool - worthy as we suspected it would be.
On the other hand, the Nook Tablet does
pretty much the same thing for Barnes & Noble, though there is less focus on actually shopping for anything besides
books,
magazine and movies on the Nook Tablet.

The internet was
pretty obviously in competition with a few obvious industries at that point — like meatspace
book stores — but caught (
and is still catching) others off guard: cable TV, movie companies, music companies, FedEx / USPS / UPS, movie theaters, desktop software makers,
book publishers,
magazine publishers, shoe / apparel stores, newspaper publishers, video game console makers, libraries, grocery stores, real estate agents, etc. etc....
After all, being able to bring hundreds, or even thousands, of
magazines,
books,
and comics with you in a package that fits in your backpack or purse is
pretty amazing.
Confession: I'm stuck in the past; still wanting to cling to the old way of getting published (query letters to
magazine editors,
book proposals to publishing houses, etc.) But I know the train has left the station
and if I don't get with it
pretty soon, I'll never get anywhere as a writer.
This was
pretty impressive,
and I soon realized that I could share passages of any length from any
book or
magazine I was reading.
Just 4 short months later, it now hosts hundreds of prospective projects, allowing users to get funding in order to create albums, games,
books,
magazines, iPhone applications
and pretty much any other form of media you can think of.
