pretty much everything about Adam Bosk is based on a lie as well (actually, nearly everyone in this book plays fast and loose with the truth), so it is quite difficult for the reader to determine just who is playing whom, and it remains that
way until about three pages from the
twist ending.
It's all
pretty standard fantasy fare and there is little in the
way of
twists or turns during the story which is told either by some beautiful hand - drawn style custscenes, or by far less beautiful text only moments where a face made of plasticine makes grunting sounds.
When you first start playing through the tutorials, it feels
pretty much like classic Pac - Man with a slight
twist: you have to eat enough Pac - Dots to fill a Gauge which will make either a fruit or a Power Pellet appear; this the only
way to get Power Pellets, and when you get the fruit, the maze resets (or you're brought to a different but similar maze).
There are plenty of
twists and turns along the
way, as well as some
pretty powerful and well - acted scenes.
Though the game, sends a couple of
twists your
way, the playstyle to me seems
pretty linear.
The visual novel aspect has opened up multiple routes in a
way that's a little more obvious to the player, the subject matter has given the genre a nice
twist of «new,» and the gameplay itself is
pretty solid.
There are a few
pretty cool
twists along the
way, and it is nice watching your home town get destroyed fairly early on as it reminded me of Kefka on the Floating Continent before the World of Ruin in Final Fantasy VI.
