These programs have become a critical part of the overall services we provide in addition to animal sheltering, as they play a vital role in helping to
prevent homeless animal population growth and support retention of pet
family members for those
humans in need of financial help.
The Inquiry was called as a result of pressure from Indigenous women,
family members, Canadian
human rights organizations and international and regional
human rights bodies that found Canada in breach of its international
human rights obligations to act with due diligence to
prevent violence against Indigenous women and girls.
