Safe Dates is a school - based prevention program for middle and high school students designed to stop or
prevent the initiation of dating
violence victimization and perpetration, including the psychological, physical, and sexual abuse that may occur between
youths involved in a dating relationship.
The objective of our study was to evaluate the real - world effectiveness of ROE in
preventing violence (reducing aggression and increasing pro-social behaviour) in children and
youth at the individual level, immediately after program completion and up to three years afterwards, in two successive samples determined via cluster random assignment, in order to provide rigorous evidence to inform provincial government decision - making regarding the future expansion of ROE in Manitoba, including questions related to relative effectiveness by student gender and grade level.
