Return to Castle Wolfenstein, developed by Grey Matter Software (formerly Xatrix, and best known for their previous games, Kingpin: Life of Crime and Redneck Rampage), brought heaps of World War II realism to the game, while retaining the more fantastical elements of
previous Wolfenstein games.
As in
the previous Wolfenstein installment, the gameplay in The New Colossus features exploration, completing consecutive missions, and eliminating scores of diverse foes.
The previous Wolfenstein all but killed the franchise, so they needed a hook to reel people back in... but how?
Wolfenstein: The New Order is just what I was hoping for and more, it took everything I hated with
the previous Wolfenstein game and just turned the crank and made it into one of the most enjoyable experience I have personally had all year, it also put this game as one of my favourite FPS games I played in a long time.
The most welcome change when it comes to The New Order, when compared to its FPS peers and past franchise entries, is how much heart this game has, and how BJ Blazkowicz is more three - dimensional than he has been in all
the previous Wolfenstein games combined.

Catacomb 3 - D, John Carmack's project immediately prior to
Wolfenstein 3D, was a straightforward dungeon crawler of the form popularised by Dungeon Master in 1987 (as discussed in the
previous Game Inventories serial).
Wolfenstein: The New Colossus, unlike the first game, has environments that are a lot larger than the
previous games allowing you more than one way to get around.
A large majority of the first level is centered around B.J., rolling around in his wheelchair, comically taking out large amounts of Nazis while reflecting on his decaying state of health after eating a grenade up close in the
previous game,
Wolfenstein: The New Order.
Wolfenstein 2: The New Colossus picks up right where the
previous title left off with BJ waking up hell bend to track down and kill the scientist he failed to kill during the war.
Similar to the
previous DLC installments for
Wolfenstein II: The New Colossus, «The Deeds of Captain Wilkins» will showcase new weapons and some new enemy units.
Admittedly, I have not put enough time into some of the greats mentioned in
previous lists like
Wolfenstein II: The New Colossus, Horizon Zero Dawn, and PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds — which I plan to during my time off.
