Japan had an interesting release week with several new titles for both
handheld and
console, so
previous contenders are starting to slip from the charts.
Coming straight from Nintendo of Europe, the Nintendo Switch has sold more units at launch than any of their
previous consoles and
handhelds and that The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild is the biggest - selling Nintendo launch title.
Previous Dragon Quest games have been very popular in the West, especially when the series made the transition from
console release to
handheld.
The early images show a style very similar to both the
console and
handheld versions of
previous New Super Mario games, with polygonal figures in a 2D world.
While
previous LEGO
handheld titles have served as scaled - down side games, LEGO Batman 3 gives players an experience very similar to what's available on
consoles.

previous version of the game was only playable on the
consoles with the only
handheld version being the PS Vita release, which was great on its own, the Nintendo Switch version of the game is actually best of both worlds here.
Formally reserved for sports titles (like FIFA «14, which is coming to PC, six

Unfortunately, Nintendo is not including a power adapter in the box, as it assumes most users are simply upgrading from
previous Nintendo DS
handheld consoles.
In Nintendo's defense, they have done retro gaming half right on their
previous home
console, the ill - fated Wii U, as well as on their most recent pure
handheld device, the 3DS.
Those who have a
previous Hollow Fragment save on PlayStation Vita will be happy to know some items are transferable to the PlayStation 4 version, and DLC from the
handheld version will be able to be unlocked for the
console version at a later date.
It wouldn't work on Vita, nor on home
console — it'd feel outdated and boring — but Atlus has made sure to validate it for 3DS, taking the best bits of the
previous MegaTen games and redoing them on Nintendo's nifty
handheld.
I'd say it's the best RPG of this
console generation, but that's not saying a whole lot (when the
previous best game in my book, XIII - 2, was about tenth or so over the time - frame to indie and
handheld games).
As explained in the
previous paragraph, I don't think it marks a shift from
handheld consoles to home
consoles for Pokémon games.
If you were concerned that the Nintendo 3DS
handheld gaming
console was going to suffer the same product shortages as the
previous iterations of the device then fear not, as it looks as though Nintendo is making sure there will be no break in its supply....
