Today's blog post features the changes we made to our living room, which is now open to the kitchen with
the previous kitchen walls removed.

We inherited some classic 90s Florida detailing from the
previous owners — dust - attracting, shaggy red and white carpeting, stucco
walls, green laminate countertops and a low - hanging ceiling in the
kitchen.
I had a burgundy
kitchen back in the late 90's and faux painted caramel
walls in my livingroom that I inherited from the

walls) in the master bedoom.
The
previous owners had already taken out a
wall to open the
kitchen to the dining and living rooms, and they had finished an attic as a bedroom / bonus with a full bath.
It just occurred to me that this color is almost a nod to the
previous wall color of the
kitchen.

Adam and I added the same
wall treatment to the
kitchen and dining room back at the
previous house, way back when before all planking was dubbed «shiplap».
I inherited an awful dark red
kitchen wall from the
previous owner and have gotten so used to it that I can't even picture another color in my mind!
My
previous kitchen had a brick
wall on which I hung some of my favorite copper pieces and a huge bunch of dried lavender; I liked to pretend that I lived in the south of France.
