Results from the
state standardized tests known as Smarter Balanced
Assessments taken last spring showed that while many subgroups test scores improved from the
previous year, results for LA Unified's English language learners were stagnant.
Overall, teachers rate the test favorably, with 79 % of teachers finding it to be a higher - quality
assessment than their
previous state tests.
State results for 2017 are compared to 11
previous assessment years at grade 4 and nine
previous years at grade 8.
The studies show that PARCC is a high quality
assessment, aligns to
state learning standards, predicts college readiness, compares well to NAEP performance, is endorsed by the country's top educators, and gives students with disabilities and English learners more tools and access to the test than
