COLONIE — Speaking in a video message and by phone, Governor Andrew Cuomo told delegates of the Working Families Party on Saturday that he wants Democrats to take control of the state Senate, and he threatened to support
primaries against members of the chamber's Independent Democratic Conference if they did not re-join with mainstream colleagues.
What remains to be seen is if Democrats run
primaries against members of the Independent Democratic Conference or IDC, something Governor Cuomo does not want to see as he publicly calls for the two warring Democratic factions to come together in a show of party unity.
As for whether Democrats would launch
a primary against members of the IDC — and rumors have swirled that various challenges may come to Klein or fellow IDCer Sen. Diane Savino — Stewart - Cousins demurred.
