a primary lung tumor at age 16.
If your dog has been diagnosed with
a primary lung tumor, or if you are a veterinarian with a canine patient that has been diagnosed with one, they may be eligible for subsidized SRS treatment through this clinical trial.
For more information regarding Bristol - Myers Squibb Clinical Trial participation, please visit www.BMSStudyConnect.com Inclusion Criteria: • Early stage IB - IIIA, operable non-small cell lung cancer, confirmed in tissue • Lung function capacity capable of tolerating the proposed lung surgery • Eastern Cooperative Oncology Group (ECOG) Performance Status of 0 - 1 • Available tissue of
primary lung tumor Exclusion Criteria: • Presence of locally advanced, inoperable or metastatic disease • Participants with active, known or suspected autoimmune disease • Prior treatment with any drug that targets T cell co-stimulations pathways (such as checkpoint inhibitors) Other protocol defined inclusion / exclusion criteria could apply
The American Lung Association estimates that over 150,000 Americans will die of
primary lung tumors in 2015, making it the number one cancer killer of men and women in this country.
Primary lung tumors are very rare in cats and dogs.

They discovered that YAP1 is present at higher levels and interacts with OCT4 more in
primary and metastatic
lung tumors than normal tissue.
Loss of either GSTO1 or RYR1, the researchers report, decreased the number of cancer stem cells in the
primary tumor, blocked metastasis of cancer cells from the
primary tumor to the
lungs, decreased the duration of chemotherapy required to induce remission and increased the duration of time after chemotherapy was stopped that the mice remained
tumor - free.
Heeke says the study would be open to people whose
tumors have evidence of HRD like those found in this study, which includes bladder, breast, cervix, liver and bile duct, colorectal, endometrial, gastric / esophageal, head & neck, kidney, neuroendocrine,
lung, ovarian, pancreas, prostate, sarcoma, and thyroid cancers, as well as gastrointestinal stromal
tumors, glioma, melanoma and unknown
primary cancers.
But
tumors from patients with distant metastases to the
lung and liver showed massive epigenetic changes that mapped to large, blocklike segments of the genome, both in the distant metastases themselves and in the section, or «subclone,» of the
primary tumors they came from.
Researchers are rooting out these
primary tumors, many of them found in the gastrointestinal tract or the
lungs, with combined positron emission tomography and computed tomography (PET / CT), which provides both functional and structural imaging of the body.
«Historically, when treating early
lung cancer with radiotherapy, progression at the site of the
primary tumor was the most common failure resulting in suffering and death,» said lead study author Robert Timmerman, MD, professor and vice chair of the department of radiation oncology at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas.
2) The two repeated experiments analyze the source of POSTN expression in the
lung and whether it affects the number / size of
primary and secondary
tumor formation in a spontaneous mouse model of breast cancer (MMTV - PyMT).
Primary tumor size was measured by weight, and the number of metastases was determined by counting
lung metastatic lesions.
This mouse model develops
primary mammary
tumors that spontaneously metastasize to the
lung (Guy et al., 1992; Lin et al., 2003).
In these circumstances, cells from
primary tumors in breast, colon, prostate, or other organs invade
lung tissue via the bloodstream.
Five to six weeks after the resection of
primary tumors from
tumor - bearing NOD / SCID mice,

In some cases, surgeons have successfully treated such limited cancer spread, producing long - term survival by removing the
primary cancer and one or two distant
tumors, off - shoots of the original cancer — usually in the
lung or liver.
The Program specializes in the treatment of
primary head and neck cancers, brain and spine
tumors such as squamous cell carcinoma, basal cell cancer, glomus
tumor, paragangliomas, acoustic neuromas, salivary gland and mucosal
tumors, astrocytomas, oligodendrogliomas, glioblastomas, and hemangioblastomas, and metastatic
tumors that may have arisen from elsewhere in the body such as the breast,
lung, or prostate.
To translate advances in our understanding of molecular mechanisms of oncogenesis and
tumor progression into novel therapeutic strategies. With
primary focus on
lung cancer, melanoma, and lymphoma / leukemia, we will use the strength of in - depth molecular and phenotypic characterization of
tumor heterogeneity to identify new targets and translate those into new therapeutic opportunities.
Primary lung and heart
tumors also happen and can be picked up with x-rays.
These diseases include infectious pneumonia (fungal, bacterial, parasitic), feline heartworm disease (cats are aberrant hosts for the canine heartworm disease parasite),
primary lung parasites, and
tumor disease (either a
lung tumor, or one that has metastasized or spread to the
lungs from elsewhere in the body).
Initial evaluation of a dog with a suspected bone
tumor often includes: complete physical exam, blood tests, radiographs (both the
primary site and the
lungs), and a biopsy.
