My particular suggestion does not involve such an arbitrary choice but comes from a fundamental tension between the
basic principles of quantum mechanics and those of standard gravitational theory (general relativity), especially the principle of equivalence.
I choose to believe those teachings are correct the same way I believe in
the principles of quantum mechanics.
According to
the principles of quantum mechanics, two slow» neutrons which have brushed past each other would tend to have their spins in roughly opposite directions.
Quantum computers, which have not been built yet, would run on
the principles of quantum mechanics, in which the smallest particles of light and matter can be in different places at the same time.
But
the principles of quantum mechanics offer the cloak - and - dagger community an opportunity to learn whether someone has eavesdropped on their messages.
Stanford University physicist Andrei Linde believes this quantum paradox gets to the heart of Wheeler's idea about the nature of the universe:
The principles of quantum mechanics dictate severe limits on the certainty of our knowledge.
First proposed in the 1980s, a quantum computer harnesses
the principles of quantum mechanics (the physics of very small things like electrons and photons) to process information significantly faster than traditional computers.
The experiment shows that
the principles of quantum mechanics can apply to everyday objects as well as as atomic - scale particles.
«We developed a model of how methanol behaves in magnetic fields, starting from
the principles of quantum mechanics.
You can see the structure of the carbon dioxide molecule, how it changes due to the different modes of vibration in accordance with
the principles of quantum mechanics, what parts of its absorption spectra line up with those modes.
