Over the course of an evening that included food
by French Laundry
chef Thomas Keller and a performance
by Pharrell Williams, a total of $ 21.9 million was handed out in
prizes.
Both restaurants» menus are helmed
by Michelin - starred
Chef Joseph Humphrey, and The Farmer & The Fox's cuisine and experience, inspired
by Scottish and English pubs, also scored a
prized 2015 Michelin Guide Bib Gourmand Award.
In addition to such merit, she won the top
prize at the Ruinart Chardonnay competition hosted
by Ruinart and the Guild of Sommeliers in 2010, the 2010 Jean Banchet award for Top Sommelier for Chicago, and was also awarded the Rising Star Sommelier title through Star
Chefs.
The grand -
prize winning recipe will be demonstrated at the session
by registered dietitian and
chef Michelle Dudash and sampled
by all attendees.
Through this
prize the BCC aims to promote a deeper understanding of what cooking represents today,
by inviting us to reflect on the role that
chefs play in today's society, as well as the way in which cuisine can serve as a transformative force in society.
A
prize committee led
by chef Elena Arzak of the Arzak Restaurant and made up of academics from different universities chose the 20 finalists from whom the panel of judges ultimately picked a winner.
The
prize, which was created to recognize
chefs who transform society through gastronomy, is promoted
by the Basque Culinary Center and the Basque Government under the framework of the Euskadi - Basque Country Strategy.
All three
prizes, courtesy of publisher W.W. Norton & Co. Ltd, will include a signed copy of The Food Lab: Better cooking through science

The

prize, which honors Peruvian food, adds to the award for Central restaurant — owned
by chef Virgilio Martinez and that held its position at No. 4 in the list of The World's 50 Best Restaurants — the 13th place of Mido — owned
by chef Mitsuharu Tsumura — and the 30th spot of Astrid & Gaston in the same ranking.
