While co-branded cruise line cards definitely offer some value — most
come with sign - up bonuses worth about $ 100 and no
annual fee — you would
probably be better off
with a general travel rewards credit card.
However, if you are already prepared to pay a yearly
fee, you are
probably better off spending the additional $ 25 for Club Carlson's Premier card, which
comes with a much higher sign - up bonus and
annual bonus, as well as a longer list of hotel perks.
With everything I've already said in mind, I want to share how I think about my
annual fees when they
come due and hopefully give some of you an idea of what you should
probably be considering before you give the credit card companies any more of your cash.
But, even
with this quadrupled bonus, this card is
probably not for everyone, because it
comes with a $ 450
annual fee that is not waived.
Though both cards also
come with an
annual fee ($ 95), their strength lies in their bonus categories (travel, gas, dining, and entertainment for the Premier; travel and dining for the Sapphire), which
probably line up
with the majority of your foreign spending anyway.
That $ 760 is
probably greater than the cost of the free plane ticket you earned
with the single card, so you
come out ahead — even when you factor in the $ 75 AmEx
annual fee.
