probably one of the first recipes I ever learned how to
cook and I make it at least once a month, although usually
on the
stove.
ps - My slow
cooker is still packed since we just moved so I will
probably just
cook them very very low and slow
on stove top in a sauce pot with lid
on.
If you only need a few,
cooking them
on the
stove is
probably just as easy, but if you need several
cooked all at one time, this might be a better method to try.
If you don't feel like using the slow
cooker you could also just make it in a big pot
on the
stove — I'd say you'd want to simmer it for about 3 hours if you use dried beans, but if you use canned then you could
probably get away with maybe 30 - 45 minutes of simmering
on the stovetop.
