problem (basically, the fuse socket's connection to the ignition system was lost due to bits of broken copper wire stuck deep in the socket, from an earlier broken fuse having been «fixed» with wire under a previous owner).
Another 15 % of the time, I am driving a short enough distance that the engine will not be too warm for this to be a major
problem (the
car might
start after 1, 2 or 3 times).
I resently I bought a vw Tiguan because i wanted to
start having luxury sorta
cars and I. Had soo many
problems with the
car.
Driving it however seemed to pose no
problem, the white smoke would only appear after the
car had been turned off and sitting for quite a while and first
started.
I disconnected the MAF and
started the
car, and I immediately got idle

car went into limp mode.

My VW golf (2002) had battery
problems where I was going out to
start the
car and it would attempt to
start but that was it and then the alarm would keep going off until the
car was jumped.
The
car starts right up and I am able to connect to the ECU / PCM with no
problem.
More fuel was tanked and now the
car starts without
problems again.
I don't think this is a battery
problem, given the circumstances and the fact the radio and everything else still work - but it's possible repeated failed attempts to
start the
car while diagnosing the real
problem might flatten the battery, giving you a battery
problem on top of the original
problem...
