Although, a very
simple building, displaying a flat facade to the road, the Registry is an object lesson in the harmonious use of materials (a smooth faced ashlar, a rough sandstone and grey - green slate), and the careful composition and subtle
arrangement of the different elements to
produce an eye - catching yet superbly refined building.
These works rely on
simple arrangements of basic volumes and voids, mechanically
produced surfaces, and algebraic permutations of form.
