Enrollees, all of whom held graduate degrees and many of whom were either working scientists or recent doctoral recipients in STEM fields, did an intensive 1 - year program of summer classes, where they were drilled in
pedagogical theory, then two semesters of supervised teaching in a classroom and night classes where they caught up on math or science areas in which they weren't totally
proficient.
