The
public charter -
school movement, in addressing both the supply and demand sides
of this equation, has emerged as the most
promising development in the broader attempt to save
public education.
The marketing
of both private
school choice and
public charters promises to escalate over the next two years, masquerading as the best option for underserved children.
That is the
promise of American
public education — that all students will be well - educated — not just those chosen by lottery for a
charter school that may not turn out to be better than the regular neighborhood
school.
