The bigger packages definitely get your more exposure for your book, and therefore are well worth the extra price, although there is certainly nothing wrong with their base
level promotional options too.
I gained a new perspective on using several social media sites I was already familiar with, and I also discovered other
online promotional options that I've been overlooking.
My next big release will likely be published on Amazon first and I may give the
new promotional option a whirl but after 90 days, it is going on Smashwords (who in turn will publish it on virtually every eReader market in the world).
In fact, in the last 18 months, we've seen that independently published authors have more
promotional options available to them than many who go the traditional route because they can react more quickly to changing market trends and make decisions to jump on timely promotions.
They also have a shop with a variety of
promotional options such as featured articles, Facebook giveaways and cover polls.
There are
also promotional options every 90 days including five days of free promotion, which can be good for getting reviews and Kindle Countdown Deals, time - bound promotional discounting for your book.
Here is a list of all of the
various promotional options I've compiled over running all of my campaigns, and hopefully some of them will come in handy for you (or at least the ones that you end up using).
I compared the results of two strategies: using the
free promotional option (where you can make a book free for any 5 days during the three month contract period); and using the newly introduced Kindle Countdown option (where you can discount a book below $ 2.99 for up to 7 days consecutively during the three month contract period — while still getting the full 70 % royalty rate).
The Digital Text Platform for Kindle publishers should allow authors and publisher to choose from several
promotional options with the click of a mouse.
One of the most affordable Kindle promotions groups available, Just Kindle Books has
promotional options starting at $ 18, and going up to a modest $ 38... and they're even cheaper when you use the Just Kindle Books Promo Code PAIDAUTHOR for a $ 5 discount!
For Kindle publishers you can also join KDP Select which has three self -
service promotional options, two free book promotions and an advertising program.
You must chose from a combination of
many promotional options, including print advertising, direct mail, Web sites, and public relations.
KDP Select offers a few
other promotional options, includes your book in their lending library, and requires you to not sell your book to any other e-book outlet, i.e. no Nook, no Smashwords, no Kobo.
During my Kindle Scout campaign, I decided to try some
new promotional options that I've seen some other folks use with some success.
One of
the promotional options offered by Amazon is to provide your book free for a period of time.
The promotional options are the best reason to use KDP Select, and why I use it.
Sure, you didn't offer us the kinds of
promotional options KDP did — or any promotional options, actually — and it's true that your venerable parent didn't give us shelf space in its brick - and - mortar stores, nor did it play fair with sales rankings in its online store.
In return KDP Select pays higher royalties for sales in certain countries, adds your ebook to the lending library for Prime Members, and gives
you promotional options to make your ebook free for up to five days or discounted for up to seven.
Why not use it as
a promotional option, a way of expanding your skill set, or a base for exploring your career options?
