This
proposed law would expand the deposit requirement to
containers for all nonalcoholic, noncarbonated
drinks, excepting dairy products, infant formula and FDA - approved medicines.
Mayor Bloomberg's
proposed plan to limit the sale of soda and other sugary
drinks to
containers that are 16 ounces or less has drawn national attention, been widely criticized by editorial boards and columnists, and has made him a target for attacks from several groups including the Center for Consumer Freedom which ran an full page ad in the New York Times.
