Prosciutto ham.
This is the system still in use in Italy — the whey from the production of Parmesan cheese goes to the pigs on nearby farms to produce delicious
prosciutto ham.

I followed the recipe to a «T», but skimped on the onion by about a 1/4 cup (the remnant hunk I had in the fridge only went so far), and omitted the
ham (didn't miss it all, though I might experiment with some crisped and crumbled
prosciutto when I reheat for dinner).

Prosciutto di Parma.

You can add various vegetables like peppers, onion, garlic, olives or meat like
ham,
prosciutto, tuna, pepperoni even other type of cheese.
Always one to fiddle, I replaced onions with shallots, and
ham with
prosciutto.
The use of authentic ingredients is very important to our customers and this is especially true with our authentic continental meats such as Spanish chorizo, German salami, Italian Parma
