Mission: The SAN FRANCISCO
PSYCHOTHERAPY RESEARCH GROUP seeks to improve the practice of psychotherapy through the further development of Control - Mastery Theory, providing psychotherapy training and continuing education to mental health professionals, conducting research on psychotherapy, and providing sliding scale mental health services to the community.
How people attune to each other as whole embodied beings is a current focus of interest in
psychotherapy research.
Its Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology program, for instance, allows students to pursue research in targeted areas, like child and family studies and

This special issue of Group Dynamics on statistical methods will bring together in one volume papers that will serve as a reference for authors, reviewers, and students who wish to conduct and evaluate state of the art group psychology and group

Additional studies were identified by reviewing evidence and guidelines from National Institute for Health and Clinical Excellence, the Society of
Psychotherapy Research and the British Association of Psychotherapy; by searching dissertation abstracts; by hand searches of reference lists and key journals; and through contact with experts in the field.
Dr. Marci is the Director of Social Neuroscience for

Over the last 25 years, the EFT research program has systematically covered all the factors set out in optimal models of
psychotherapy research.
In terms of the gold standard set out by bodies such as APA for
psychotherapy research, EFT epitomizes the very highest level set out by this standard.
A Hedge g effect size estimate was used in the power analysis because it includes a correction for sample size and is therefore more appropriate to use with small samples.26 The interpretation of g is similar to the interpretation of the Cohen d: 0.80 or greater is considered large, 0.50 to 0.79 is considered medium, and 0.20 to 0.49 is considered small.27 A minimum effect size of g = 1.0 was expected based on prior uncontrolled studies of CBCT and the broader
psychotherapy research for PTSD.28 An effect size of g = 1.0 represents an approximately 25 - point improvement in total CAPS scores.

For the last decade and a half I have been part of a very active group
psychotherapy research team.
