who has since been convicted on Federal corruption charges; (10) the sordid history of former New Rochelle Schools

who are gradually reshaping the way they collaborate.

As a general and special education teacher,

No one understands the problems facing America's
public schools as acutely as the teachers, support professionals and
administrators who work in these schools daily.
Maybe there's nothing «Hollywood» about a group of
public school teachers,
administrators and support staff
who bound together to transform a historically low - performing school that predominantly serves low - income students of color.
But despite more than 50,000 certified teachers and
administrators, Governor Malloy and Education Commissioner Stefan Pryor chose to put Connecticut's «Alliance Districts» in the hands of an individual
who has consistently failed to do what is legally required of Connecticut's real
public school teachers and

The typical teacher evaluation in
public education consists of a single, fleeting classroom visit by a principal or other building
administrator untrained in evaluation
who wields a checklist of classroom conditions and teacher behaviors that often don't focus directly on the quality of instruction.
