adoption events throughout the Chicago suburbs where we bring our available dogs to meet the
public.
At our
adoption events we always need help with: - Setting up for
adoptions - Introducing adoptable dogs to the
public - Answering questions and educating people so they may find their perfect match!
These puppy store demonstrations, which are really
public information and educational activities, have been very successful in ending the sale of puppy mill dogs
at a number of local retail outlets in L.A. and Orange County and even contributed to a national mall chain's decision to phase out pet stores in their malls in favor of hosted
adoption events by rescues and shelters.

OBOL raises
public awareness about the plight of homeless animals
at pet expos and
adoption events.
Please note: Since we don't have a shelter or facility, our primary need for volunteers is
at our weekend
adoption events, where volunteers walk dogs, clean up after the doggies, and interact with the
public and potential adopters.
Sometimes we have some of the shelties
at public events for an interested person to meet prior to making an application but otherwise we do not ask foster homes to host people in their homes that have not completed the
adoption application process.
The annual luncheon, held
at the ASPCA
Adoption Center, celebrated our NYPD Partnership and recognized those who have played critical roles in preventing, investigating and prosecuting cases of animal cruelty and neglect in 2017 — roles like that of Deputy Chief James Luongo, whose commitment to this partnership has elevated the issue of animal welfare for all members of the NYPD; Detective Walter Brant, who is an NYPD Community Affairs Officer and has consistently worked to engage the
public with the ASPCA's message through community
events like National Night Out; Police Officer Danielle Venuto, whose work and dedication to animal welfare has extended to the rescue and successful placement of dozens of dogs; or Detectives Matthew Edelman and Jonathan Kalman, who saw a Facebook ® video of animal cruelty and took immediate action that resulted in the arrest of a perpetrator and saved the life of a cat named Chester.
