Midlands Fellow: Ingrid Swenson, hosted by Wolverhampton Art Gallery Ingrid Swenson has been Director of PEER (formerly The Pier Trust) since 1998, during which time she has curated over 50 acclaimed gallery and
public realm projects with a wide range of artists including Martin Creed, Mike Nelson, John Smith and Karin Ruggaber.
Martin has been using his skills in community and
public realm projects since finishing art school and has designed and fitted out a number of vessels including the Puppet Theatre Barge.
She also heads a new Master's programme «Art, Society and Public» at the University of Lille with a particular focus on the production of contemporary art works and
public realm projects.

Selected
projects inscribe themselves in the structural, historical and societal contexts of the city, while also pointing beyond the specific site: themes related to the global present and reflections on contemporary concepts of sculpture are as much an integral part of the artistic inquiries as investigation into the basic parameters of publicness and the
public realm.
This programme is integral to the
project: it responds to recent events in the
public realm, taking them as an imperative to put all spaces to use; in particular, it seeks to convert the gallery space into a pedagogical space and a space of resistance.
