I say this not to be negative or downplay what you're saying, as I've seen it work for lots of
writers, but only to broaden the point that not everyone is capable of that upfront investment, and as hopelessly impatient I can be at times, this is an issue than «just writing more
books» will not solve regarding indie
publishing in the big
picture sense.
There are many
writers aspiring to
publish an illustrated
book, such as a children's
picture book, but they baulk when considering what it costs to hire a
book illustrator and put their
book together.
I'm beginning to believe that if you're a
writer of
picture books and want to self -
publish a quality
book, you need an illustrator, a service or individual to format the
book for
publishing, and a
publishing company, like Createspace or IngramSpark to turn it into a physical
book or e-
book.
