If I had lucked out and got an agent for my first novel, a vampire romantic suspense, and it had sold to a publisher, and if it had sold only 3,000 copies in the first months, (i.e. being with a publisher wouldn't have led to an increase in sales due to the
magic fairy pixie
dust I'm told that publishers employ), I would never have
published the second or third book in the series and likely would have been dropped by the publisher for
publishing a «dud».
