published book competitions, and I read the * entire * book in every case, despite the fact that the honorarium has never been more than $ 12 per book — a figure that works out to less than $.50 per hour

of my talk about self -
publishing, given

of Independent
Authors, at last week's Cambridge Literary Festival.
The complaint filed
on behalf of the plaintiffs states: «Most
of Author Solutions» earnings are derived from its
publishing and marketing services.
A federal class action lawsuit has been filed
on behalf of residents in California and New York who sought
Author Solutions» services for self -
publishing, and is seeking $ 5 million in damages.

To date, the key benefits we could offer to
authors of books
published through our company were quality
of design, access to distribution, access to retail and other sales channels and
of course we take
on the risk
of publishing costs and pay royalties to the
author removing the dangers that self
published authors have
of not receiving payment for the books other sell
on their
behalf.
These are professionals that act
on behalf of authors to represent them for
publishing companies.
The ability for a curator / editor /
publishing project manager to set unique
author split percentages for a project and use this tool to
publish on behalf of the publisher and take care
of the monthly revenue split
What's more, agents were always seen as the advocates
of authors — but with disintermediation for agents looming in the same way as it is for traditional publishers, will agents then be forced into the paradoxical position
of becoming de-facto advocates
