The
"pulp chamber" is a term used to describe a small space inside a tooth. It contains nerves and blood vessels that provide nourishment and sensitivity to the tooth.
Full definition
After carefully extracting genetic material from the inner
pulp chamber of the teeth (so as not to damage their exteriors), the team created what Bos called a genetic «fishing rod,» baited with molecules from modern - day Y. pestis.
Digital x-rays are then taken, if needed, to allow the veterinarian to evaluate the root and
pulp chamber of the teeth and decide if extractions are necessary.
«We could clearly find preserved DNA signatures in the DNA extract we made from
the pulp chamber and from that we were able to determine that Yersinia pestis was circulating in that individual at the time of death,» she told the BBC.
This can cause infection and plaque formation within
the pulp chamber and within the tiny dentin tubes in each tooth.
The tooth's core is called
the pulp chamber.
Other examples include women who had developed cavities during pregnancy that healed after giving birth, and the Inuit whose teeth were worn down to
the pulp chamber but protected by a new layer of mineralized matrix.
When no sugar is taken, the dentinal fluid flowed normally from within
the pulp chamber outside.
During dental radiographs the oral cavity that is evaluated include the tooth itself, the periodontal ligament space,
the pulp chamber, the tooth roots, and the bone around the tooth.
These fractures commonly expose
the pulp chamber (nerve chamber) leading to the infection and death of the tooth.
Because the exposure of
the pulp chamber is so small, it can be hard to visualize.
This type of fracture exposes the sensitive «
pulp chamber» inside the tooth which contains the blood vessel and nerve.
X rays of the tooth are required to determine if
the pulp chamber is exposed, giving bacteria access to the root and other sensitive structures of the tooth and to ensure that surrounding teeth have not been damaged as well.
In Stage III FORLs, the defect has entered
the pulp chamber as seen on oral radiography (X-rays), and extraction is eminent.
Stage 3 — Deep dental hard tissue loss including cementum or cementum and enamel, and loss of dentin that extends to
the pulp chamber.
In every case, once the tooth is broken and
the pulp chamber is exposed the tooth becomes infected and begins to die.
The pulp chamber is opened, and this allows bacteria to enter the tooth, causing an abscess.
The teeth are put together in the same way, with a layer of ultra-hard enamel over a layer of softer dentin, all surrounding
the pulp chamber which is full of nerves.
Root Canal Therapy is treatment of a tooth with a damaged pulp which usually consists of removing
the pulp chamber and root canals and filling the spaces with inert sealing material.
