pupils should know the whole topic but by
targeting the questions according to
grade, colleagues can meet the objectives for appropriate and effective homework whilst also ensuring
pupils have a full experience of all questions that have come up in the past.

(a) In
grades kindergarten through five, the program shall be designed by a certified school counselor in coordination with the teaching staff, and any appropriate

target for 70 % of
pupils to achieve a good
grade at GCSE maths in the next three years, up from 59 % at present.
For the first three years, at least, threshold
targets for secondary schools (60 per cent of
pupils achieving 5 A * to C
grades), and for primary schools, (85 per cent of
pupils achieving level 4 in English and maths) will become the new floor
target and will reinforce the importance of hitting
targets rather than focussing on
pupil progress.
Last year the government missed its
target for 85 % of
pupils to make the
grade in English and 85 % in maths and now it has slipped further away.
The Isles of Scilly was the poorest - performing local authority, with 69 % of
pupils meeting the expected
target, followed by Medway and Poole, both with 73 % of
pupils making the
grade
In 2010 just 10 % of
pupils achieved the
target measure of five GCSEs including English and Maths at
grade A * to C.
To be eligible for support, schools needed to have examination results above the then Key Stage 4 floor
target of at least 30 percent of
pupils achieving 5 A * - C
grades at GCSE including English and mathematics.
