At least one California lawmaker has a
different plan for your future: His bill, AB 485, seeks to replace pet
store puppies with totally unregulated shelter and rescue dogs, some from as far away as Asia.
Traditionally a respected brand by pet owners, openly opposed to
puppy farming, and never selling
puppies & kittens for profit in
store (adoptions are
different); however surprisingly Pets
at Home are actually agreeing with PIF, i.e. they're opposing the ban on
puppies and kittens sold in pet shops as well.
At the pet
store, the
puppy is again put into new, unfamiliar surroundings and handled by many
different people.
These pet
stores offer multiple breeds of
puppy and attract people who are looking for a new dog because their dogs are cheaper than breeders and they get hands on experience with many
different dogs
at once.
