Any time I add
pure stevia extract to anything, it's all I can taste, and that flavor lingers in my mouth
for hours in an unpleasant way.
I made these cookies yesterday, substituting the
pure maple syrup
for sugar free maple syrup, and using some
stevia as a sweetener.
I only made a few slight changes to the recipe: added a splash of vanilla extract, used a tablespoon of
pure maple syrup instead of the
stevia, and substituted 1/2 tsp of pumpkin pie spice
for the cloves.
Again, this one is a bit heavy on the sugar
for my taste: reduce it by using half the amount, and 10 drops of liquid
Stevia instead — or try
pure Xylitol (low GI birch tree sugar) in place of sugar.
If you do choose to use
stevia, opt
for pure stevia plant extract as opposed to products that contain other additives and colorings (like TruVia & PureVia).
I want to get the calories down
for weight loss though so my updated recipe is: 6 oz brewed organic coffee cold, 6 oz unsweetened almond milk, 1 scoop organic plant based protein powder, 1 tsp
pure vanilla extract, 1 tbs organic cocoa, 1 egg yolk,
stevia to taste, and contents of 2 probiotic capsules.

Be on the lookout during this challenge
for: dextrose, maltodextrin, sucrose, fructose, cane sugar, evaporated cane juice, acesulfame potassium (sold as Sweet One — often combined with aspartame or sucralose to sweeten gum, diet soda and other sweet products), aspartame (Nutri - sweet and equal), saccharin (sold as Sweet n» Low),
stevia (combined with sugar alcohol and sold under brand names like Truvia and
Pure Via), erythritol (a sugar alcohol derivative of corn) xylitol, brown rice syrup (and other syrups), high fructose corn syrup (made by treating starch extracted from corn with enzymes to make fructose and glucose)-- and if there's anything on a food label that you think might be sugar, google it.
I also use it with almond milk or coconut milk, 1/4 avocado and some berries or coffee,
pure cream (I am allergic to the protein - not the cream) and
stevia in the Vita Mix
for a very creamy shake or a little thicker
