CHICAGO (August 31, 2017)-- Advance Illinois applauds Illinois» new, more
equitable school
funding formula that
puts kids first and ends an era of the state having the most inequitable school
funding system in the country.
Although Adamowski doesn't actually have the authority to «offer regional out - of - district» options to Windham students,
funded by Windham taxpayers but not accessible to all students in an
equitable manner, he is doing so anyway; Although Adamowski is not authorized to do so, he is eliminating bilingual education and
putting a Band - Aid in its place; Although Adamowski doesn't have the authority to do so, he forced TFA on Windham; Although Adamowski doesn't actually have the authority to do it, he is interfering with other, non-Education Boards and Councils in the Town of Windham; Although Adamowski doesn't have the authority or power to do it, he has usurped the Board of Education completely and they have sat by and let it happen; Although Adamowski has no business interfering, he is trying to get charter reform that includes either mayoral control of the BoE or an appointed BoE in Windham.
Along with
putting a new Education Cost Sharing (ECS) formula into statute and moving away from — beginning in FY 2019 — the practice of allocating ECS
funds to towns via arbitrary block grants, the ECS formula passed by the General Assembly incorporates several key elements to establishing a fair and
equitable school
funding system for Connecticut.
