In my opinion, this is one of the best match - 3 /
puzzle games on the platform, and in many ways You Must Build A Boat feels like the sequel to Dungeon Raid that we never got - which is even more pertinent considering the latter game's demise at the hands of iOS 11.

on the bright side of the
game we have an interesting experiment with its creative quark system that comes with challenging

platform puzzle game Semblance, from South African developer Nyamakop.
Other non-starters include Camera (essentially a hidden object
puzzle where you're looking to take photos of
on - the - run criminals), Patchwork (a tiresome pattern - matching
puzzle game), Ski (a motion - controlled top down
game very similar to the F - Zero mini-
game from Nintendo Land), Kung Fu (a frustratingly slow - paced
platform game with the art style from Ōkami), Design (a thinly veiled excuse to indulge Shigeru Miyamoto's love for guessing the length of objects (no, really)-RRB-, and Ashley (a tedious 2D shooter without any actual shooting).

puzzle based, and include specific goals / goodies to collect - move Captain Olimar with the Circle Pad, while all other interactions use the touchscreen - blow your whistle, throw Pikmin and also touch certain objects - worlds are called Sectors, with six areas altogether - find all the treasure and look for new passageways to complete a sector 100 % - passageways can grant you access to secret spots or additional levels highlighted with the letter X - the first world is called Brilliant Garden, which has lush forest environments - Yellow Pikmin can easily reach the upper screen, where you can sometimes collect goodies and pull down vines - there's a level where you use yellow Pikmin as a source to connect two wires - connecting the wires lets you see enemies and
platforms that were hidden in the shadows - Winged Pikmin can be flung at high speeds, and they can pick up Olimar and help him descend down into new areas - in a later level, you need to use red Pikmin to stomp out fire and clear the way for you - Rock Pikmin are the strongest ones of the bunch and can break crystals - blue Pikmin can swim and fight well underwater - the maximum amount of Pikmin you can have in a stage is 20 - blow your whistle to call over the correct Pikmin for a task or
puzzle - Ravaged Rustworks offers a unique industrial environment where you climb
on pipes - Loney Tower has you climbing to the top of a tower without any help of Pikmin, and instead use pipes and Olimar's jetpack - Valley of the Breeze, found in the Leafswirl Lagoon sector, relies complete
on Winged Pikmin - Barriers of Flame is in the Sweltering Parchlands sector - here you «lll be forced to improvise with Yellow and Rock Pikmin to get around fire - every world ends with a boss stage - one boss fight puts you up against a Fiery Blowhog, where you use Red Pikmin to pick up / feed bombs to the boss - beating bosses gives you treasures worth 1,000 Sparklium each - supports amiibo in the Splatoon, Super Mario and Animal Crossing lines - amiibo can be scanned in to grant you access to secret spots - these are one room
puzzle challenges where you collect a statue - these bonus rooms will also get you 200 Sparklium every time - you are limited by how many amiibo you can summon to each secret spot - one of the treasures you will find is an NES cartridge for Ice Climbers, which carries the name «Revenge Fantasy».

Much like the occasional ambiguous
puzzle, not being able to fully see the surface you're walking
on before succumbing to the laws of gravity will become very old very quickly, particularly because you probably did the actual hard bit with ease; the
game also likes zooming out and showing off the incredible environment, which is bloody terrific, or at least it would be if you were allowed to take it all in instead of squinting at that
platform you're walking because you can't rely
on yourself to walk across it safely.

on each stage, requiring you to solve some very difficult

game felt well paced: the

puzzles, and the action segments, like the one that ended the level I played, which involved a slew of ghosts gunning for our hero
on a circular
platform that turned in two different directions between the center and edge.
Those interested in an old - school take
on puzzle platforming may be willing to overcome its flaws, but modern
gamers will want to reconsider their options before doubling down
on Lumo.
is a fun
platform - cum -
puzzle game, with beautiful artwork that is complimented with a soundtrack that is both catchy and easy
on the ear — reminding me of some of the soundtracks that accompanied
games from my childhood — the early 90's Mega Drive era.
This basically changes the
game from being a simple platformer into being more of a
puzzle game in which you must think and try and work out the solution based
on timing and
platforming combined.
There are
puzzles, riddles,
platforming challenges, races, shooting ranges, and really strange boss - fight quizzes that test you
on your knowledge of in -
game characters and locations (which I totally aced because I am a nerd).
Puzzle Quest was one of my favorite
games a few years ago, so much so that I had it
on damn well near every
platform I owned.
