Full motion video, usually abbreviated as FMV, is a popular term for pre-recorded TV -
quality movie or
animation in a video game.
The
movie's original trailer (2:37), which twice identifies Walken as an Academy Award winner and repeatedly features white and black rotoscope
animation of his character's grenade launcher action, is nicely included, albeit in low
quality standard definition.
Also, while the
movie looks pretty, the
quality of the
animation isn't even close to that which is being put up by Pixar.
In fact, the only real story in story mode is in the prerendered
movies between chapters, and while they're bordering on well made (the modeling and art style are high
quality, but apparently the motion - capture budget was used only for the game itself, as the
animation is done by hand and sometimes isn't that good), they are mostly just a series of scenes that show the next boss character preparing to try to destroy the heroes.
Any DC fan will be in absolute heaven, but even general fans will appreciate the
movie -
quality action and visuals, the excellent voice acting from a mixture of DC regulars (Kevin Conroy's Batman, George Newbern's Superman) and iconic actors (Robert Englund, Jeffrey Combs, Alan Tudyk), and the frankly fantastic
animation (particularly with faces).
While the words «From the Director of Pirates of the Caribbean» and «Johnny Depp» will probably be enough to sell most people on this
movie, I am really digging the character designs and the
quality of the
animation here.
Kung Fu Panda 3 has the
qualities we hope for in animated children's
movies: A sense of adventure, good modeling by the adults, fine
animation, humor, and a minimum of fart and pee jokes.
The computer
animation isn't theatrical feature
quality; that's no surprise because Pixar spends four years making their
movies, and DreamWorks typically devotes two to three.
The incredible amount of multimedia includes high -
quality photographs, MPEG and QuickTime
movies, audio,
animations, and interactive viewers.
