The CAMEL (Climate Adaption Mitigation E-Learning) project aspires to create an online learning community which will generate and use high -
quality curricular materials about climate change and climate change solutions.
Research has shown that in many respects the adoption of
quality curricular materials can be a significant accelerator for student achievement.

States could, however, move closer to the international norm by specifying
curricular frameworks, as Massachusetts does, or advancing widespread use of high -
quality instructional
materials, as Louisiana has achieved.
Educators are rightly focused on ensuring high -
quality instruction, developing new and improved

The group then comes together again to review the learning data and provide feedback on the lesson, further refining it.17 The high -
quality lessons that are the outcome of a lesson study cycle are then sometimes published or integrated into the school's
curricular materials.18
States and districts face similar challenges with delivering
quality Common Core - aligned professional development as they do in creating
curricular materials.
To address the significant challenge of the absence of externally vetted, high -
quality Common Core
materials, districts and teachers are developing aligned
curricular materials locally.31 While many districts report challenges associated with developing aligned curriculum, many also report positive responses from teachers involved in creating
curricular materials.
The report profiles work in Florida, Louisiana, Massachusetts, New York, and Washington, D.C. to «create the conditions for aligned standards and curricula or to directly develop and scale high -
quality, standards - aligned
curricular materials, and the results of their efforts.»
