I quite agree sell all the deadwoods but
which player
in his right mind would want to come to arsenal at the moment, remember people man u was
in the same situation under moyes but we're able to attract better player's even when not playing champions league, the selling point from arsenal point of view is to tell players
which they are trying to get what the plan is of getting back to top flight football by going for the Europa league over the FA cup and finishing
in the top six otherwise if they go for wishy - washy arsene wenger stupid attitude of we've got
quality all the
squad we are competing for everything then I'm afraid We will end up with nothing
We have a big
squad in numbers
which turns out to be not so big
in quality, but the fact is we have to rotate sometimes.
It's difficult to blame Ozil for the difficulties he's faced at Arsenal without looking at the big picture... like the fans, he too was lied to by Wenger... there is no doubt
in my mind that he was told by Wenger that he was trying desperately to recreate our earlier success by acquiring players that fit the system he ran when Henry was
in his prime... as we know this hasn't happened...
in order for Ozl to flourish he needs some speed up front, forwards that can make intelligent runs, a boss
in the midfield to compensate for his obvious defensive liabilities and defenders who can transition from defence to offence quickly and efficiently... much like he had
in Real and with the German National
squad... unfortunately he ended up on a
squad that has a striker who plays with his back to goal, very few intelligent runs into the box, minus Sanchez, no one to take pressure off him
in the midfield, once Cazorla was injured, average defensive midfielders around him,
which simply highlighted his lacking defensive
qualities and defenders who lack the necessary cutting edge when it comes to transitional passing... instead of blaming Ozil,
which is simply too easy, especially considering his mopey disposition, we should be asking ownership and / or Wenger why they brought him
in if they didn't intend on doing what was necessary to get the best from him... can you imagine Ozil playing with the likes of Henry, Viera, Petit and Pires, it would be incredibly to watch and even more difficult to stop... so the only thing different between his experiences
in Real and with the German team versus his time at Arsenal are the players around him and we all know who is
in charge of making those decisions, the Grinch who stole soccer
3 of that 4 are top
quality players
which do improve our
squad when they are putting
in 100 % effort, all Wenger targets.
It's the manner
in which the best teams see the reason to strengthen their teams more, while Arsenal, the Wenger trophy specialists see no need to strengthen the already average
squad that could require 2 or more
quality players??
I love my team but demand top
quality not mediocre
which 15 players
in our
squad are.
Nwakali is a forward or wing player, nothing like kante and Ramsey is a
squad player for me not first team
quality, if Carzola is fit, him and xhaka would be a mouth watering fit but with Arsenals Injurie luck this seems inlikely but i wounder if the five at the back would work if we play a stubborn team that defends, i hope Arsene would change the formation
in such games back to 4 -2-3-1 but this would require a proper rght wing
which we havent had
in years, we've had OX, Campell, Wallcot, Iwobi, Ramsey, Welbeck and Ozil play
in that position and non of them have made it their own like sanchez has with the left wing
23 year old Dutch international Strootman offers the battling
qualities of a defensive midfielder, the type of
which Moyes could certainly do with
in his Man United
squad, with the offensive abilities of a playmaker.
Handanovic would bring a wealth of experience and
quality to the
squad which in turn makes the transfer link no real surprise, but given how highly regarded he is at Inter, it would take a significant offer to prise him away from the Stadio Giuseppe Meazza.
For Arsenal, a Club
which seeks to play entertaining football both home and away against Clubs who are either fighting for survival or a place
in the top 4 with a
squad that because of under investment is short
in terms of having the
squad of
quality players that you need to play the Wenger way — then something has to eventually suffer.
This is an incredibly difficult question to answer for a variety of reasons, most importantly because over the years our once vaunted «beautiful» style of play has become a shadow of it's former self, only to be replaced by a less than stellar «plug and play» mentality where players play out of position and adjustments / substitutions are rarely forthcoming before the 75th minute... if you look at our current players, very few would make sense
in the traditional Wengerian system... at present, we don't have the personnel to move the ball quickly from deep - lying position, efficient one touch midfielders that can make the necessary through balls or the disciplined and pacey forwards to stretch defences into wide positions, without the aid of the backs coming up into the final 3rd, so that we can attack the defensive lanes
in the same clinical fashion we did years ago... on this current
squad, we have only 1 central defender on staf, Mustafi, who seems to have any prowess
in the offensive zone or who can even pass two zones through so that we can advance play quickly out of our own end (I have seen some inklings that suggest Holding might have some offensive
qualities but too early to tell)... unfortunately Mustafi has a tendency to get himself
in trouble when he gets overly aggressive on the ball... from our backs out wide, we've seen pace from the likes of Bellerin and Gibbs and the spirited albeit offensively stunted play of Monreal, but none of these players possess the skill - set required
in the offensive zone for the new Wenger scheme
which requires deft touches, timely runs to the baseline and consistent crossing, especially when Giroud was playing and his ratio of scored goals per clear chances was relatively low (better last year though)... obviously I like Bellerin's future prospects, as you can't teach pace, but I do worry that he regressed last season,
which was obvious to Wenger because there was no way he would have used Ox as the right side wing - back so often knowing that Barcelona could come calling
in the off - season, if he thought otherwise... as for our midfielders, not a single one, minus the more confident Xhaka I watched played for the Swiss national team a couple years ago, who truly makes sense under the traditional Wenger model... Ramsey holds onto the ball too long, gives the ball away cheaply far too often and abandons his defensive responsibilities on a regular basis (doesn't score enough recently to justify): that being said, I've always thought he does possess a little something special, unfortunately he thinks so too... Xhaka is a little too slow to ever boss the midfield and he tends to telegraph his one true strength, his long ball play: although I must admit he did get a bit better during some points
in the latter part of last season... it always made me wonder why whenever he played with Coq Wenger always seemed to play Francis
in a more advanced role on the pitch... as for Coq, he is way too reckless at the wrong times and has exhibited little offensive prowess yet finds himself
in and around the box far too often... let's face it Wenger was ready to throw him
in the trash heap when injuries forced him to use Francis and then he had the nerve to act like this was all part of a bigger Wenger constructed plan... he like Ramsey, Xhaka and Elneny don't offer the skills necessary to satisfy the quick transitory nature of our old offensive scheme or the stout defensive mindset needed to protect the defensive zone so that our offensive players can remain aggressive
in the final third... on the front end, we have Ozil, a player of immense skill but stunted by his physical demeanor that tends to offend, the fact that he's been played out of position far too many times since arriving and that the players
in front of him, minus Sanchez, make little to no sense considering what he has to offer (especially Giroud); just think about the quick counter-attack offence
in Real or the space and protection he receives
in the German National team's midfield, where teams couldn't afford to focus too heavily on one individual... this player was a passing «specialist» long before he arrived
in North London, so only an arrogant or ignorant individual would try to reinvent the wheel and / or not surround such a talent with the necessary components...
in regards to Ox, Walcott and Welbeck, although they all possess serious talents I see them
in large part as headless chickens who are on the injury table too much, lack the necessary first - touch and / or lack the finishing flair to warrant their inclusion
in a regular starting eleven; I would say that, of the 3, Ox showed the most upside once we went to a back 3, but even he became a bit too consumed by his pending contract talks before the season ended and that concerned me a bit... if I had to choose one of those 3 players to stay on it would be Ox due to his potential as a plausible alternative to Bellerin
in that wing - back position should we continue to use that formation...
in Sanchez, we get one of the most committed skill players we've seen on this
squad for some years but that could all change soon, if it hasn't already of course... strangely enough, even he doesn't make sense given the constructs of the original Wenger offensive model because he holds onto the ball too long and he will give the ball up a little too often
in the offensive zone... a fact that is largely forgotten due to his infectious energy and the fact that the numbers he has achieved seem to justify the means... finally, and
in many ways most crucially, Giroud, there is nothing about this team or the offensive system that Wenger has traditionally employed that would even suggest such a player would make sense as a starter... too slow, too inefficient and way too easily dispossessed... once again, I think he has some special skills and, at times, has showed some world - class
qualities but he's lack of mobility is an albatross around the necks of our offence... so when you ask who would be our best starting 11, I don't have a clue because of the 5 or 6 players that truly deserve a place
in this side, 1 just arrived, 3 aren't under contract beyond 2018 and the other was just sold to Juve... man, this is theraputic because following this team is like an addiction to heroin without the benefits
I hope I'm wrong but this could be the most damaging win when it comes to transfers... winning 1 game, after about 20 minutes of really good play, is of little consequence
in the grand scheme of things... only those with the most selfish of intentions would suggest otherwise... the only reason we're even
in this predicament, where were celebrating our first victory of 2018 against a bottom half
squad who is managed by possibly the only individual more antiquated than our manager, is because of Wenger's ridiculous mishandling of his contract last year combined with his mishandling of the contracts of our top players this year; a fact that he himself admitted to... so before you get too excited about the possibilities of our current roster don't forget what has happened over the last several years and pray to the gods of football that real
quality reinforcements like Auba are on the way,
which could have happened years ago for less money and we might have been holding a trophy of some significance, or this brief respite will be followed by the usual mediocrity and stagnation
If either of them were on the market they would cost at least # 50m at today's prices
which would indicate that Wenger really is only interested
in top top

squad.

If any one or two of Terry, Hazard, Matic, Fabregas gets injured for long duration (
which they haven't), we all know Chelsea don't have that much
quality in squad depth and they will crumble.
«we need two world class players
in every position» thats the quote from Usmanov
which i really agree with him same thing spanish big two has been doing for a long run and thats why European Championship has been changing hands because of
quality they have
in their
squad same thing can not be said when you come to Arsenal approach we are way below
in England i can Man city doing same thing pep brought with him
whatever you think of ramsey... and
in my books he is a decent b2b but certainly not top class... he is not going to control the area between edge of box and centre line
which is what all great DMs do... nor has coquelin proved that to me... he is a guttusso type player and has improved massively
in that role... not convinced it is what will take us to challenging for titles however
which is why a cavalho type DM is a needed addition especially as arteta and flamini are obviously not up to the task... but have always said that wengers job is to get best out of ozil santi and wilshere who are the real creative world class strengths of this
squad... they need protection behind them and options
in front... at moment the real worry is that wenger will continue to use mertesakher at CB and fail to bring
in quality striker... so the song remains the same... without
quality DM and attacking option we will be trying to retain 3rd place and reach qf of cl

Now I think there is still reasons to be cheerful, I agree Man C & Chelski have spent & bought some good players, we all understand that 5 of those teams might be
in the CL proper
which is a huge distraction for those 4 - 5 teams.Chelsea will not be able to field the same 13 - 14 players all season, as for Man C they were very frail at the back last season, add to that 2 flying wing backs and I'm not sure they will be any better this coming season.LFC will most probably have CL as well if they qualify and haven't exactly bought great players apart from Salah who could be a good aquasistion for them.Spuds have sold a good player & strengthened a rival & still not bought a single player yet, Man U have bought 2 good players &
in Lukaku have a proven goal scorer
in the PL but if they play the same dour way they did last season & with the added games the CL brings will they perform week
in week out
in the league??? As for Everton yes they have released a lot of players and also brought
in a lot too to give better
quality in the
squad as they have Europa league the same as US the big difference is I think we will play
squad players & youngsters maybe with a few senior players all the way up to the QF This tells me most of our rivals will pave the way for us to field pretty much the same side every weekend
in the PL thus giving us an advantage over all the other 5 teams playing
in the CL & Europa, just remember the League has been won
in the last 2 seasons by teams NOT
in Europe YES we are this season but I think Wenger will put all his eggs
in the League basket and field an under strength side
in all comps hence focusing on the League until we are no longer
in the race.
So with the rumour going around the football media that the Frenchman will have something like # 150 million to spend on new players we were looking at an average spend of # 50 million on each,
which is certainly good news
in terms of getting the right
quality into our
squad.
As a result, the plan to bring
in Johansson as a No. 2,
which is sensible as they lack
quality depth
in that department of the
squad, would fix their issue and allow them to keep hold of one of their top players.
As it stands, this
squad is fairly well positioned to compete for the Wenger Cup and make a deep run
in the Europa, if and only if we play first stringers
in Europe and use the bench for the League and FA Cups... that being said, and based on the fragility of the manager and the team
in recent campaigns, it's more likely that Wenger will focus on a top 4 finish and the FA Cup... while the reasons for such an approach may appear logical, it would confirm a rather disturbing trend and appear counter intuitive for any team
which claims to have higher aspirations... I feel that Wenger simply can't afford to put all his eggs
in the Europa basket because if he fails the potential backlash could cripple any top 4 chances due to the aforementioned fragile psyche that tends to rear it's ugly head like our own personal groundhog day each and every February... furthermore, can you even imagine Wenger bringing
in the necessary recruits to adequately supply top
quality lineups
in a Thursday / Sunday dominated schedule; based on everything I've seen
in recent years, I can't see that happening...
in fact, mark my words, it's more likely that we see Lacazette playing out wide
in Alexis's position with Giroud at striker, than we see Wenger make the necessary moves to right this ship... god, I hope I'm wrong but is it really that far - fetched considering what we've witnessed for past several years
Time for some brutal honesty... this team, as it stands, is
in no better position to compete next season than they were 12 months ago, minus the fact that some fans have been easily snowed by the acquisition of Lacazette, the free transfer LB and the release of Sanogo... if you look at the facts carefully you will see a team that still has far more questions than answers... to better show what I mean by this statement I will briefly discuss the current state of affairs on a position - by - position basis...
in goal we have 4 potential candidates, but
in reality we have only 1 option with any real future and somehow he's the only one we have actively tried to get rid of for years because he and his father were a little too involved on social media and he got caught smoking (funny how people still defend Wiltshire under the same and far worse circumstances)... you would think we would want to keep any goaltender that Juventus had interest
in, as they seem to have a pretty good history when it comes to that position... as far as the defenders on our current roster there are only a few individuals whom have the skill and / or youth worthy of our time and / or investment, as such we should get rid of anyone who doesn't meet those simple requirements,
which means we should get rid of DeBouchy, Gibbs, Gabriel, Mertz and loan out Chambers to see if last seasons foray with Middlesborough was an anomaly or a prediction of things to come... some fans have lamented wildly about the return of Mertz to the starting lineup due to his FA Cup performance but these sort of pie
in the sky meanderings are indicative of what's wrong with this club and it's wishy - washy fan - base...
in addition to these moves the club should aggressively pursue the acquisition of dominant and mobile CB to stabilize an all too fragile defensive group that has self - destructed on numerous occasions over the past 5 seasons... moving forward and building on our need to re-establish our once dominant presence throughout the middle of the park we need to target a CDM then do whatever it takes to get that player into the fold without any of the usual nickel and diming we have become famous for (this kind of ruthless haggling has cost us numerous special players and certainly can't help make the player
in question feel good about the way their future potential employer feels about them)...
in order for us to become dominant again we need to be strong up the middle again from Goalkeeper to CB to DM to ACM to striker, like we did
in our most glorious years before and during Wenger's reign... with this
in mind, if we want Ozil to be that dominant attacking midfielder we can't keep leaving him exposed to constant ridicule about his lack of defensive prowess and provide him with the proper players
in the final third... he was never a good defensive player
in Real or with the German National
squad and they certainly didn't suffer as a result of his presence on the pitch... as for the rest of the midfield the blame falls squarely
in the hands of Wenger and Gazidis, the fact that Ramsey, Ox, Sanchez and even Ozil were allowed to regularly start when none of the aforementioned had more than a year left under contract is criminal for a club of this size and financial might... the fact that we could find money for Walcott and Xhaka, who weren't even guaranteed starters, means that our whole business model needs a complete overhaul... for me it's time to get rid of some serious deadweight, even if it means selling them below what you believe their market value is just to simply right this ship and change the stagnant culture that currently exists... this means saying goodbye to Wiltshire, Elneny, Carzola, Walcott and Ramsey... everyone, minus Elneny, have spent just as much time on the training table as on the field of play,
which would be manageable if they weren't so inconsistent from a performance standpoint (excluding Carzola, who is like the recent version of Rosicky — too bad, both will be deeply missed)...
in their places we need to bring
in some proven performers with no history of injuries... up front, although I do like the possibilities that a player like Lacazette presents, the fact that we had to wait so many years to acquire some true
quality at the striker position falls once again squarely at the feet of Wenger... this issue highlights the ultimate scam being perpetrated by this club since the arrival of Kroenke: pretend your a small market club when it comes to making purchases but milk your fans like a big market club when it comes to ticket prices and merchandising... I believe the reason why Wenger hasn't pursued someone of Henry's
quality, minus a fairly inexpensive RVP, was that he knew that they would demand players of a similar ilk to be brought on board and that wasn't possible when the business model was that of a «selling» club... does it really make sense that we could only make a cheeky bid for Suarez, or that we couldn't get Higuain over the line when he was being offered up for half the price he eventually went to Juve for, or that we've only paid any interest to strikers who were clearly not going to press their current teams to let them go to Arsenal like Benzema or Cavani... just part of the facade that finally came crashing down when Sanchez finally called their bluff... the fact remains that no one wants to win more than Sanchez, including Wenger, and although I don't agree with everything that he has done off the field, I would much rather have Alexis front and center than a manager who has clearly bought into the Kroenke model
in large part due to the fact that his enormous ego suggests that only he could accomplish great things without breaking the bank... unfortunately that isn't possible anymore as the game has changed quite dramatically
in the last 15 years,
which has left a largely complacent and complicit Wenger on the outside looking
in... so don't blame those players who demanded more and were left wanting... don't blame those fans who have tried desperately to raise awareness for several years when cracks began to appear... place the blame at the feet of those who were well aware all along of the potential pitfalls of just such a plan but continued to follow it even when it was no longer a financial necessity, like it ever really was...
Our injury prone
squad is the concern... we have backup, but not
in the
quality we probably need,
which is why many were concerned
in the transfer window... yes our first team and a few others is great, but after them...........
He is still one of the best managers
in the game and can still achive greatness but he has to strengthen his
squad with two or more top
quality players and we all know
which position.
Walcott Situation should be looked up quickly, many forget he is our longest serving player, we bought, its almost a decade since he joined us, I think the supporters should show him a bit of respect, weve had players who left for wrong reasons, E.g Judas, Cashri, and a la fab, Walcotts situation is different he actually wants to stay but with our
squad boasting some top
quality performers (note performers) he isnt sure he would get a good look
in,
which of course would hinder his International status, Ive loved walcott for his pure speed, and he has been that player to light up the emirates with some deft runs and some beautiful champions league Nights, he is our Man he is our player, support him COYGGG!!!!!!!!! (off topic - I read an article years back that Walcott was a ball boy for liverpool, apparently he was a boyhood fan, any truth to that, kindly appreciated)
Chelsea need to add more
quality and depth to their
squad before the transfer deadline at the end of the month, but Conte is being frustrated
in his pursuit of key targets
which won't help the general mood at the club after their opening - day defeat at home to Burnley.
But the temptation is there to buy, he provides a lot of power and directness
in the wide right position
which could lead to goal scoring opportunities, has good defensive
qualities and would add a more physical presence to the
squad.
Arsenal's
squads since then have lacked the sort of
quality expected from a club
which saw their team go unbeaten for 49 league games
in 2004.
Mourinho recently called Matic the team's best player,
which is high praise given the
quality in the Chelsea
squad.
I think we need spain players with
qualities, like Carzola for example... A player of Carzola's
qualities can easily catch up with our game not like Olivier Giroud that is taking a lot of time to adapt to the premier league game, so if i should select the kind of players we should be having i'll go for 2 strikers
which are Roberto Soldado of Valencia and Falcao who is out of our limit cos there're a lot of clubs on him
in which we know Arsene wenger is not the type of Man that compete when it comes to buying
quality players so what i suggest is that Mr wenger should go to Spain and pack as much as he can pack into the
squad and let them all play Spain type of football similar to barcelona's style of play
which everyone knows...
The young Cote d'Ivoire defender, the Swedish centre forward and the Armenia attacking midfielder comprise three of «a nucleus of four priorities, four positions to give a certain balance to the
squad»,
which Mourinho identified as necessary «to give a certain push
in terms of the
qualities that I need and want».
Its been obvious to most that this
squad of players has not been right since the end of that 1st great season under Bilic orchestrated on the pitch by Payet. This was followed by a disastrous Summer window when we bought bulk instead of
quality, top that off with the Payet wanting to leave fiasco and we have never been the same since.Odd good displays
which flattered to deceive but
in general a gradual and consistent decline to the bottom.Moyes has inherited this group and i can honestly not see how it will change until January
in the transfer market. He will not get a bumper warchest to improve thats for sure and who would want to buy some of these under achievers to create money for new buys. Its a mess and has been since that awful Summer transfer window plus on top of
which far too many of this lot have under achieved drastically be it new players we have bought or the OLD boys. Its an ageing side especially at the back and needs a serious overhaul.
Song, arguably our most improved player is on 4 yellow cards and we should ensure that he doesn't miss the Chelsea game. The partnership of Gallas and Vermaelen is outstanding, yet one can not expect them to play
in every game, and it is
in that are we are weak
in cover. With regards to the full back situation, perm any two from four, that is Clichy, Gibbs, Eboue, Sagna and even Traore they are attacking wing backs and are always at risk on the quick counter attack by the opposition.Almunia still doesn't impress me and his command of his area is still indecisive and he is still vulnerable to letting goals
in, especially to his near post.Wenger being Wenger, I doubt he will buy
in January, and it is a pity we didn't go for Given months before he joined City, when he was available for a comparatively cheap price. This new diamond shape or 4 -1-4-1 is working well and we have an abundance of
quality to interchange,
which bemuses the opposition more often than not.We have every chance this year, and we are also being helped by the fact that the other so called big four sides are showing their vulnerability.A couple of decent signings, not
squad players
in January, and hopefully we are
in the mix.
If the Ox leaves, his position
in the senior team
squad will be replaced with another target of higher
quality from the transfer market
which I think will constitute an improvement
in the position the Ox has left behind.
