leader capacity is crucial to supporting
quality teaching.
Ensuring
quality teachers in every classroom by recruiting, training, retaining, and rewarding teachers and school
leaders; creating career ladders and increasing pay for effective teachers who serve as mentors,
teach in high - need subjects, such as math and science, and who excel in the classroom; and by identifying ineffective and struggling teachers, providing them with individual help and support, and removing them from the classroom in a quick and fair way if they still underperform.
Ten years ago, Kentucky
leaders promised that their state's historic education reforms would improve the
quality of its
teaching force.
We collaborate with thought
leaders to advocate for high -
quality teaching for our youngest children, especially those most in need.
When finished, the newly developed and validated online tool will measure school

While agreement is growing over the understanding that
quality teaching is the most important variable in student learning, I find all too often school
leaders responsible for observing teachers on the job don't know what
quality teaching looks like.
From district
leaders in our higher - performing settings, we have learned that once standard expectations for curriculum, instruction, and leadership are implemented and sustained with a reasonable degree of fidelity and
quality, further improvement in the

teaching, overhaul Tennessee's K - 12 education funding formula, raise academic standards for Tennessee students, turn around low - performing schools, and expand high -
quality public charter schools in Tennessee.
This work has been guided by an unwavering belief that student learning will not increase until the

Education system
leaders, such as Education Secretary Arne Duncan in the United States and Michael Gove in the United Kingdom, have suggested that recruiting academically smarter people to
teach in schools would enhance the
quality of
teaching and improve academic outcomes in schools.
During 2015, the project convened state
leaders and experts to provide ideas, best practices, and resources to inform «what» policies most effectively advance
teaching quality and «how» those policies and programs can be implemented to support great
teaching and learning.
We will continue to provide in - depth leadership coaching to school and district
leaders, helping them to capitalize on their emerging vision of high -
quality teaching with new leadership strategies and actions.
The fact that the current state of
teaching leaves too many of our students without a
quality education is due to the prevailing level of expertise among our teachers and
leaders — not simply a prevailing lack of moral will and courage.
Amy has since completed countless classroom observations through work as a peer validator evaluating practices in Newark and New Haven schools, and in providing embedded, ongoing support for instructional
leaders and teachers in the areas of high
quality observation, feedback, and
teaching and learning across Connecticut.
We must get better at attracting
quality candidates into the
teaching profession and we much get better at developing our novice teachers into future
leaders of the profession for the long run.
Leaders should also nurture different
teaching models; encourage teachers to apply differentiation with flexibility, creativity, and choice; and provide teachers with high -
quality professional development as well as time to collaborate, plan, and implement differentiation.
Catholic Education SA values the significance of middle leadership roles and the contribution these
leaders make to the
quality of
teaching and learning, wellbeing and the continuous improvement of our schools.
In practice this all means that
leaders must become intimately familiar with the «technical core» of schooling - what is required to improve the
quality of
teaching and learning.31
The committee wants the department to carry out more work to understand why there are regional differences in
teaching quality, including by engaging more with school
leaders in affected regions, and set out «how it proposes to improve the
quality of
teaching in the midlands and the north of England specifically».
Just as it is important for educators in a school district and in individual schools to have a shared vision and a common language around what
quality teaching looks and sounds like, it is essential that district and school
leaders have a shared vision and common language on both the definition of instructional leadership and the description of effective instructional leadership behaviors.
