In the midfield, (including RWB & LWB) we have a whole bunch of tweeners... none offer the full package, none make sense in our manager's current favourite formation, except for Sead on the left and Ox on the right, and all of them have never shown any consistency for more than a heartbeat... Sead, who I'm including in this category because of our present formation, looks like a positive addition, minus his occasional brain farts, but I would rather see what he could do in a back 4 before making my mind up... Ox, who has never played better, which isn't saying much considering his largely underwhelming play in previous seasons, seems to have found a home in this new formation; unfortunately, can we really expect this oft - injured player to handle the taxing duties that come with said position over the long haul, not to mention, it looks like he has no intention of staying... Ramsey has relied on the empathy that stems from his gruesome injury years ago and the excitement that was generated a few years back when he finally seemed to put in altogether, but on the whole he has been a big disappointment (neither he nor the Ox have scored enough to warrant a regular spot)... Wiltshire should be put on a weekly contract then played until he suffers his first injury, if and when that occurs he should be shipped - out and no one should very be allowed to say his name on club grounds ever again... Elnehy & Coq are average players who couldn't make any of the top 7 teams currently in the EPL... both have showed some great energy on the pitch, but neither are top quality and no good team can afford to have that many average players on their bench playing the same position, especially with Coq's injury history / discipline concerns and Elheny's headless chicken tendencies... as for Xhaka, his tenure here so far has been incredibly underwhelming... we know he has some skills to provide the long ball but his defensive work is piss poor and he gives the ball away too cheaply and far too often... finally, the enigma himself, Ozil, so much skill with his left foot but his presence has been more frustrating than uplifting... in many respects his failure has been directly related to the failure of this club to provide him with the necessary players up front, minus Sanchez of course, and unless something drastic happens very soon his legacy will be largely a negative one (much like Wenger's)

This is an incredibly difficult question to answer for a variety of reasons, most importantly because over the years our once vaunted «beautiful» style of play has become a shadow of it's former self, only to be replaced by a less than stellar «plug and play» mentality where players play out of position and adjustments / substitutions are rarely forthcoming before the 75th minute... if you look at our current players, very few would make sense in the traditional Wengerian system... at present, we don't have the personnel to move the ball quickly from deep - lying position, efficient one touch midfielders that can make the necessary through balls or the disciplined and pacey forwards to stretch defences into wide positions, without the aid of the backs coming up into the final 3rd, so that we can attack the defensive lanes in the same clinical fashion we did years ago... on this current squad, we have only 1 central defender on staf, Mustafi, who seems to have any prowess in the offensive zone or who can even pass two zones through so that we can advance play quickly out of our own end (I have seen some inklings that suggest Holding might have some offensive qualities but too early to tell)... unfortunately Mustafi has a tendency to get himself in trouble when he gets overly aggressive on the ball... from our backs out wide, we've seen pace from the likes of Bellerin and Gibbs and the spirited albeit offensively stunted play of Monreal, but none of these players possess the skill - set required in the offensive zone for the new Wenger scheme which requires deft touches, timely runs to the baseline and consistent crossing, especially when Giroud was playing and his ratio of scored goals per clear chances was relatively low (better last year though)... obviously I like Bellerin's future prospects, as you can't teach pace, but I do worry that he regressed last season, which was obvious to Wenger because there was no way he would have used Ox as the right side wing - back so often knowing that Barcelona could come calling in the off - season, if he thought otherwise... as for our midfielders, not a single one, minus the more confident Xhaka I watched played for the Swiss national team a couple years ago, who truly makes sense under the traditional Wenger model... Ramsey holds onto the ball too long, gives the ball away cheaply far too often and abandons his defensive responsibilities on a regular basis (doesn't score enough recently to justify): that being said, I've always thought he does possess a little something special, unfortunately he thinks so too... Xhaka is a little too slow to ever boss the midfield and he tends to telegraph his one true strength, his long ball play: although I must admit he did get a bit better during some points in the latter part of last season... it always made me wonder why whenever he played with Coq Wenger always seemed to play Francis in a more advanced role on the pitch... as for Coq, he is way too reckless at the wrong times and has exhibited little offensive prowess yet finds himself in and around the box far too often... let's face it Wenger was ready to throw him in the trash heap when injuries forced him to use Francis and then he had the nerve to act like this was all part of a bigger Wenger constructed plan... he like Ramsey, Xhaka and Elneny don't offer the skills necessary to satisfy the quick transitory nature of our old offensive scheme or the stout defensive mindset needed to protect the defensive zone so that our offensive players can remain aggressive in the final third... on the front end, we have Ozil, a player of immense skill but stunted by his physical demeanor that tends to offend, the fact that he's been played out of position far too many times since arriving and that the players in front of him, minus Sanchez, make little to no sense considering what he has to offer (especially Giroud); just think about the quick counter-attack offence in Real or the space and protection he receives in the German National team's midfield, where teams couldn't afford to focus too heavily on one individual... this player was a passing «specialist» long before he arrived in North London, so only an arrogant or ignorant individual would try to reinvent the wheel and / or not surround such a talent with the necessary components... in regards to Ox, Walcott and Welbeck, although they all possess serious talents I see them in large part as headless chickens who are on the injury table too much, lack the necessary first - touch and / or lack the finishing flair to warrant their inclusion in a regular starting eleven; I would say that, of the 3, Ox showed the most upside once we went to a back 3, but even he became a bit too consumed by his pending contract talks before the season ended and that concerned me a bit... if I had to choose one of those 3 players to stay on it would be Ox due to his potential as a plausible alternative to Bellerin in that wing - back position should we continue to use that formation... in Sanchez, we get one of the most committed skill players we've seen on this squad for some years but that could all change soon, if it hasn't already of course... strangely enough, even he doesn't make sense given the constructs of the original Wenger offensive model because he holds onto the ball too long and he will give the ball up a little too often in the offensive zone... a fact that is largely forgotten due to his infectious energy and the fact that the numbers he has achieved seem to justify the means... finally, and in many ways most crucially, Giroud, there is nothing about this team or the offensive system that Wenger has traditionally employed that would even suggest such a player would make sense as a starter... too slow, too inefficient and way too easily dispossessed... once again, I think he has some special skills and, at times, has showed some world - class qualities but he's lack of mobility is an albatross around the necks of our offence... so when you ask who would be our best starting 11, I don't have a clue because of the 5 or 6 players that truly deserve a place in this side, 1 just arrived, 3 aren't under contract beyond 2018 and the other was just sold to Juve... man, this is theraputic because following this team is like an addiction to heroin without the benefits
And wins win you the PL Title Our defense including goalkeeper have been excellent and they have been giving us chances of winning but we end up losing or drawing many times because our goal scorers have been misfiring In my opinion, our strikers have been letting down the great work of Cech, bellerin, koscielny, Mert, Moneal, Coquelin, Cazorla, Ramey, and especially our Assist leader Ozil Mahrez and Vardy in particular have been dynamite this season for Leicester So far in terms of our Offense only Ozil, and Cazorla have been been of the same quality but they aren't goal scorers per se If Welbeck, Alexis, Walcott and Giroud can start scoring, then things can change Hopefully, they can start tomorrow COYG
When Samuel commented on why it was wrong to sell Lucas Perez you brought up stats between Walcott and Perez and in that you proved using the stats why Walcott is better. If Wenger didn't have blond love for some of his players then why did he keep benching Perez when he was performing yet the average guys always got a look in the squad. So if there are stats which prove Walcott is better aren't there stats which also prove Perez is better?Think about that. You also said Perez is not as good as some of us make out.The funny thing is yesterday we had an argument on Giroud and I also tried to imply that Giroud is not as good as we make out and you opposed. You always kept bringing stats up to defend him.Do you know if Bendtner or Chamakh had scored 25 goals for Arsenal in any season they'd still have been regarded as average. You know why?Because quality has nothing to do with stats and is just a kind pf talent or state. It seems to me that you think you know it all.You also denied the fact that Wenger likes French players and that if Perez was French he wouldn't have been out in one season stating other players as examples. It seems to me that you deny things which are clear for everyone to see.If you think you know better than everyone go and teach Wenger how to win the trophy this season.
Bendtner or Chamakh would still have been considered average even if they scored 25goals because they had average talent. For all the potential Bendtner had he never maximised it so as long asit wasn't developed he's still average.I mean it's possoble for an average player to score 25 goals when given the chances and possible for a world class striker to score less than that.Quality is a talent which may be linked to stats but does not necessarily show on stats.Take Ox for example, if you looked at his stats you might think he's average but he's not.Look at Lukaku, he's scored many goals for Everton yetmany people here think he's not gpod enough for Arsenal because they look at the quality and talent andnot just the goals.
If Theo is not scoring, he can be sending quality crosses in for Giroud to latch unto.
If we can bring 3 more quality players next year Walcott will score 50 goals, Wilshere will be the best CM and Mertesaker will be the best defender.
Well im not in a wonderland he has his failings as we all do and great teams find a way to win good teams sit where we are 6 -5-4 but thats besides the point and it would be nice if your aunty had bolocks cause then we d be second but ive watched the games were an offensive team most the time although were terrible in the pissing rain but for the most part the game plans have worked weve created chances quality scoring chances one after the other problem is for me the finishing unless we sit back with 9 man behind the ball or ten when you push forward you will give up a goal if you lousy forwards fail to finish the set ups have been there this year but our strikers have failed to kill the games if we create quality chances and grab leads in the first 60 minutes like we have for the most part and in those games those games should of been killed even if we give a goal or two alongside the strategy but we failed to hit multiple should be goals we tried laca we'll see abou auba although hes a bit lazy so far but we'll see but we've lacked that quality in front goal a player the chances have been there im looking at the failure of the strikers and maybe that is his fault but monreal has scored as many goals recently as our strikers and thats sad our defenders or a midfielder will score and our stikers cant tally one in th first 60 mins of a game alongside them then were tired for last 40 give them hope there still only down one and we rue our missed chances while they push thats where iv been frustrated with this season not the tactics but the finishing
He is not a quality striker because he makes a lot of mistakes in his game. The fact that he scores 20 goals does not mean he is a quality back up striker. It is one thing to be a goal scorer and another thing to be a good or average player.Goal scoring is a very important aspect of a player but not the only aspect.Trust me you can score 20 goals in all competitions and still be average. If Chamakh, Gervinho and all the so called flops scored this same goals they would still have been considered not good enough for Arsenal. His game is just not good enough and I for one believe even if no one believes that we can get a backup striker who is better than him and also a top centre forward. Its all about mentality and willingness.Forget his goals and look at his game or else you'll force me to bring up strikers in the world who have scored his same goals and are even considered terrible.
That should shut us up even if it is Maribo he's just scored for pool...... City against Napoli unbelievable effort quality and coaching.
Leicester had three shots on target and scored three goals, so that shows you how efficient they were, but overall I must say if you look at that from a neutral point of view, for the first game it was a top - quality match.

We need a new striker... Cazorla who actually plays alongside Giroud (not like some obsessed guys here who've never played football expect in play - station) emphasized these... OOOhhh, have you heard city, madrid, bayern, etc players asking for strikers???... i bet no... so for only that reason in particular (God i have so many) i think we should spend on a top quality forward... 11-16-14 — Van pussy scored that in a single season just that we had a crappy team in general that time... we would have won the league if we had the team we have now
Qualities: Giroud - Hold up (but not against top defenders Tery, Cahil, etc), short pass, hard working, team player, defensive duties (set - pieces), injuries Benteke - Hold up, short pass, better dribbler, long shots, finishing, positioning, defensive duties (set - pieces), can play with his back to the goal and also drop deep and face the goal when marked weakness: Giroud - very slow, easily marked, poor finishing (not wc finisher), technique Benteke - injuries, not a hard worker If you look the stats for the since 2012/2013, they have almost similar records except that Benteke scored like total of 19 goals (correct me if I'm wrong) in his 1st season and also have a decent record against top teams, keep in mind he plays for AstonVilla not Arsenal where you get much more chances and better players arounIf you look the stats for the since 2012/2013, they have almost similar records except that Benteke scored like total of 19 goals (correct me if I'm wrong) in his 1st season and also have a decent record against top teams, keep in mind he plays for AstonVilla not Arsenal where you get much more chances and better players arounif I'm wrong) in his 1st season and also have a decent record against top teams, keep in mind he plays for AstonVilla not Arsenal where you get much more chances and better players around.
but don't worry sanogo... even if you play like a drunk and score gaols, then that solves everything coz a strikers job is to get goals... that is the only acceptable excuse if you have bad games or if your game is of questionable quality....
In my opinion, if you score more frequently, the chances of conceding less are high as the opposition, especially those that are not of similar quality, will misstep and stay away from attacking you.
We will say he has pace, lets see if he can score with quality passing behind him.
Quality is not all about goals or stats you know.If it was a lot of Arsenal players would have been sold and many players would not even be regarded.People need to look at the bigger picture. He scored 16 goals last two season as the starting CF.You and I know that based on the chances he gets he should've been doing better. The guy is not even a clinical player from what we watch yet people will always deny that fact. The only case people make up for Giroud is his goals. They can't even talk about his quality on the ball and others because it's non existent. He was part of the reason why Arsenal couldn't win the trophy in 15/16 season. It's a shame we are compromising and refuse to state things the way they are.Even if Giroud scores 40 goals in the EPL qualoty wise he's still aQuality is not all about goals or stats you know.If it was a lot of Arsenal players would have been sold and many players would not even be regarded.People need to look at the bigger picture. It's a shame we are compromising and refuse to state things the way they are.Even if Giroud scores 40 goals in the EPL qualoty wise he's still aquality on the ball and others because it's non existent. He was part of the reason why Arsenal couldn't win the trophy in 15/16 season. It's a shame we are compromising and refuse to state things the way they are.Even if Giroud scores 40 goals in the EPL qualoty wise he's still average.
This «he should've scored one of his headers» is a bit unfair — he's a defender and the mere fact that he was so solid on that attack should rate better than if, say, Giroud had done the same (the fact that our best headers on goal were Gabriel's also says something about his workrate and quality).
Imagine if ALEX is converted to central role and buy a quality winger like Griezmann who can score and assist
Even if we got a top quality striker, even against Bayern over two games or Barcelona over two games we will lose, thy will out score us, and out posses us.
was reading online somewhere today that barca were willing to let pedro go for about # 15 million this could be a bargain for a quality player and if corzola (who cost # 18miillion) decides he wants to go next year back to spain we have his ready made replacement in pedro he is hybrid of sanchez and corzola (great two footed player) skilled in the barca hard working style and energetic and at 27 he would be at his peak and can score goals from wide areas we would have added edge to our attacking play if we cant get reus he would be a great second chioce would be a better investment than aarons me thinks.
