Let's start with the best
query submission method.
Not exact matches
You'll often find conflicting information about
submission requirements, preferred
query method (s), and whether the literary agency is currently open to
submissions.
To submit your book to a literary agent, you simply have to send a 1 - 2 page pitch (
query letter) to the appropriate publishing agents... using their preferred
submission method.
And if — as many amateur or fraudulent agents do — the agent uses obviously unprofessional
methods (submitting substandard or inappropriate material, «blitz» submitting to a dozen or more editors at once, using form letters, using the client's own
query letter, including a «marketing» plan with a novel
submission, «bundling» several
queries in a single
submission... the list goes on) the editor will immediately tag them as questionable and toss their
submission aside.
Prior to contacting, check the publisher's
submission guidelines to see if a
query or full book proposal is preferred, as well as preferred
method of contact (mail, email, etc.).
