It adds an RPG element to an otherwise formulaic genre and it would serve
racing games as a whole to emulate this sooner rather than later.
Arguably the AI has been the greatest weakness of

as while there are really only two main series
games, there have been a
whole assortment of spinoffs — all existing in the
racing / driving genre.
