The Breakthrough Listen team studied «Oumuamua — which may be up to a quarter - mile (400 meters) long — across four
radio bands that
spanned billions of individual channels yesterday (Dec. 13), using an instrument on the 330 - foot (100 m) Green Bank
dish.
Next month, astronomers will harness
radio telescopes across the globe to create the equivalent of a single Earth -
spanning dish — an instrument powerful enough, they hope, to image black holes backlit by the incandescent gas swirling around them.
