TEACH Act, to better prepare, mentor, and reward teachers; the Graduation Promise Act, to increase high school graduation
rates; and the Expanded Learning Time and School Redesign Demonstration
Program.
According to a 2014 report of graduates of NCTR
programs, 87 percent of teachers were still
teaching after three years.82 A study done from 2011 to 2012 found that new teachers stayed in the classroom after three years at the same
rate as NCTR teachers, 83 but teachers in NCTR
programs work in schools that are difficult to staff in high - needs areas, where teacher retention is especially problematic.

rating systems, with alternative

Teach for America also subject to the rules.

programs lead many Yalies to believe that they will be able to exercise their autonomy when
teaching for an alternative teacher certification
program, yet another reason why these
programs have a high enrollment
rate among Yale graduates.
